Sneak Peak at our Designers’ 2011 Collections

Our designers are wowing us with what is in store for 2011!  Here are some juicy details:

1.  The NOTCH TOP – a cute little detail that changes up the classic strapless look. See Siri’s flirty Paulette dress below.
2.  BELTS – Your bridesmaid dress has offically become THE Party Dress with this addition.  Check out A.B. Ellie (www.abellie.com) for Flair approved belts – adorable and fashion forward at an incredible price!
3.  COTTON – Everyone loves the look and feel of cotton (do you have the commercial jingle in your head).  Your bridesmaids will love wearing cotton on your big day.  Light and comfortable, these dresses will have your girls skipping down the aisle with glee.
4. YELLOW – Think daffodils, marigold and sunflowers – yellow is the IN color this upcoming season.  Surrounding yourself in all this warm color will make you just glow on the big day.
5.  NEUTRAL TONES – Taupes and Dark Greys are the new Chocolate Brown and Black.  These colors are colorful, formal, and rewearable!  For your formal wedding, your girls can easily wear cocktail length dresses in these flattering hues.
6.  Distinguishing your beloved MOH – Let your MOH stand out with a little flair.  A different colored dress on your MOH let’s everyone know just how much she means to you.  Keep it low key – for example if your girls are all wearing navy, have your MOH wear a shade lighter, like Evening Blue.

Advice from one of our beloved bridal consultants

As some of you may know, one of our Flair consultants, Leah, recently left Flair to head to the Big Apple.  We love her, as did many of our brides.  She is imparting some bridal wisdom on our fabulous brides to be.

“Today is my last day at Flair.  I can’t believe believe time has flown by this quickly.  As I sit here enjoying my Boston Cream good bye cake, (Boston – get it?), I can’t help but wish I made some more time to slow down a bit so that everything would not have passed me by in such a whirlwind.

If I can offer you one main piece of advice before I leave, it is to try to slow things down for yourself.  Enjoy the planning process instead of letting it take you over, and most importantly take a minute at the wedding to look around and be proud of the dream wedding you were able to put together.

A few bonus tips for you newer brides….

  • Trust your bridal consultant!
  • Allow your consultant to pull styles you may not like on the hanger or had thought you wanted – you never know what will surprise you!
  • Be honest with your consultant if you have another dress you love.  It will help us to make sure that you don’t miss a similar style dress here!
  • Don’t bring all the girls to your first appointment.  Start with just a couple decision makers (Sister?  Maid of Honor?)
  • Have fun shopping with your bridesmaids!  We have fun working with you and we want you to feel the same!

I enjoyed working with you all!
Love,

Leah

Course: Re-wearing Bridesmaids’ Dresses 101 (No, really!)

Professors: Your favorite Flair consultants!
The 411: Re-wearing your bridesmaid’s dress CAN BE DONE! Today’s designers keep their clients’ tastes and lifestyles in mind. To that end, today’s bridesmaids’ dresses are trendy chameleons; they can be easily dressed up for another formal event, or dressed down for a night on the town!

A few quick tips for success:
Choose a friendly color that fits into most settings (brides, this one is for you). For instance, if you really want your girls in blue, consider a darker shade that is appropriate for re-wearing in any season and that suits most skin tones. A good example is Jenny Yoo’s Evening Blue. It’s not quite navy, but dark enough to look great with all skin and hair colors. Plus, it’s formal enough for your girls to re-wear to a formal event in the future, or throw a denim jacket over it for a dinner date!
;Accessories are your friends! You’d be shocked at how much a bridesmaid’s dress looks like a “regular” dress when you just add a belt and chunky bracelet. Or in the fall, throw on a pair of tights and a cardigan and you’re ready to go! Of course, the material of the dress can either help or hurt you…we recommend avoiding satin as this is harder to pull off as a casual day look. Silk shantung and cotton are much more versatile (hint hint, Coren Moore has both)!
Don’t be scared to step out of the box! Brides today often wonder if the bridesmaid’s dress that they love is too trendy. We say there’s no such thing! Often, if you find the dress to be modern and trendy, it’s one that your girls will love to wear again (atleast until trends change!). For example, Lynn Lugo’s Sophia dress is a cute one shoulder dress with a cocktail length skirt (above the knee); we’ve already had tons of girls tell us they’re wearing it again to another event!
Any questions? You know you can call your friends at Flair for more advice, and we’re happy to point out great styles that your girls can wear again!

Flair + Style Me Pretty: Inspiration to Reality

When Bay Area event designer, Jess Flood asked Flair to work on a collaborative inspirational wedding shoot for wedding blog, Style Me Pretty we were thrilled! We had the pleasure of working with some of the most talented and creative wedding vendors including photographer, Jessamyn Harris.

Every person who worked on this Inspiration Board contributed their skill and craft beautifully and gracefully. As a result, the day of the shoot performed itself in almost an effortless manner and the romantic story of Ella and Benjamin came true. It’s inspiring to realize that so much magic is spurred from the smallest of details that sit right in front of your face. For instance, the natural moss found on the River Ranch grounds to the antique brooches—one small detail/idea can open doors.
