Tara Keely Bridal

Meet the Spring 2017 Stunners!

While technically Spring doesn’t arrive until later this month, we’re starting to feel it early thanks to our Tara Keely Spring 2017 trunk show this weekend! Designer Lazaro Perez (yes, THAT Lazaro) has really outdone himself this season, and we’re jumping out of our skin excited to see his newest TK beauties on our Boston brides! If you’re looking for high style, a romantic feel, and lush fabrics, then this collection is for you! Here is some of what you can expect:
Flower Power – 3D flowers with tons of volume have been all the rage in the bridal world as of late, but this season we’re really loving Tara Keely’s bold, 2D floral designs. They make a big, wow statement without being over the top, or overpowering the bride.

We love that style 2700 has a bold floral top without adding a ton of weight!

Modern Illusions – The illusion neckline has been a bridal fave for years, but this season we’re loving that Tara Keely is doing it in a whole new way. With deep, deep v’s (SO on trend) and sheer sleeves, the illusion is back and better than ever!

An illusion top with embellishments starting below the elbow is a totally new look, and we love it (and you style #2712)!

Understated Elegance – Brides don’t need to be covered in lace and bling to make a statement on their wedding day. The perfect fit, a stunning silhouette, and fab fabric is all you need! This season, Tara Keely features a few chic, simple styles that will really allow YOU to shine!

Style 2704, your fit is on point and your fabric is fierce!

Reception Dresses

Everything you need to know!

Being the dress divas that we are, there is one wedding trend that we can totally get on board with: reception dresses! Not one but two stunning styles for your big day? Sounds like a no brainer to us! If you’re considering it, we’ve got the 411 on the double dress trend:

Common Reasons a Bride Buys a Reception Dress –

1) Her dream wedding dress is an over the top ballgown that while stunning, is not ideal for dancing.

2) She’s wearing a family heirloom dress for the ceremony, but also wants something new and unique to her for the reception.

3) Religious requirements dictated the look of the ceremony gown, so she wants another dress for the reception that is more flexible and allows her to show off her aesthetic and sense of style.

4) She wants to wear a traditional, long gown however, the weather will be warm on her big day so she also wants something lighter to change into after the “I do’s.”

5) She’s a fashionista who simply can’t pick just one dress 😉

Tons of Flair designers have reception dress options! Top Left - Jackie Lady Stardust by Amy Kuschel; Top Right - Style TK2406 by Tara Keely; Bottom Left - Theia style 890121; Bottom Right - Bella by Jenny Yoo

Do you fall into one of these categories? Or, is there another reason you’re considering a duo of dresses? If so, here are some logistics that every reception dress wearer should consider:

1) Decide ahead of time when you will change into your second look. You don’t want to miss too much of your big day, so try and change during a transition time. Some suggestions include: after the ceremony as guests transition to cocktail hour (just make sure you get some formal photos in your first dress before changing), right after cocktail hour as guests transition to dinner, or right after dinner as guests transition to the dance floor. If your second dress will be more appropriate for your first dance, try and change earlier in the night to accommodate that.

2) Ensure that you have an adequate place to change. You don’t want to leave your guests for too long, so close by convenience is key. Ask your ceremony and reception sites if they have an area you can use separate from the restrooms that guests will be coming in and out of. After all, you want the new dress to be a fun surprise!

3) Assign someone to bring the reception dress to your changing location and also attend to the wedding gown after you’ve changed. This should be someone responsible that you can trust. Have that one friend who you love but is a little flighty? This is not the job for her! Do a quick change and leave this person with the job of zipping/buttoning/hanging/carefully packing the wedding gown so you can get back to your party! In advance, ask the coordinator at your reception site if there is a safe, secure place your helper can leave the gown until the end of the night.

4) Consider your accessories and undergarments. Will you need to change any of these to better suit the second dress? If so, make sure to have them with the second dress so that your helper can easily bring you everything you need.

Last but not least, there is one big reason NOT to go for the two dress trend: your budget! Ensure that you have the wiggle room for not only two dresses, but two tailoring processes, and potentially two shoes, accessories, undergarments and more! Will it be a struggle for you and your wallet? Then this trend may be one to skip!

Be sure to reach out to Flair if you have any questions on wearing multiple styles or anything else dress related 🙂 Also, let us know if you wore two dresses on your big day! How did it go? Any advice for other brides considering this trend? We can’t wait to hear from you!

Unique Wedding Gowns

Easy, elegant ways to step outside of the box!

We’ve been back from Spring bridal market for almost a week now but we’re still in total swoon mode over all of the stunning styles that we saw there! We pinch ourselves every time market rolls around; we can’t believe it’s our job to watch fashion shows and buy pretty, new dresses for the showroom. It’s a tough job but someone’s got to do it 🙂 One thing we always notice at market is how bridal gowns are constantly evolving. There are so many options out there; wedding gowns can no longer be defined as just “a white dress.” For brides looking to break the mold, these days there are tons of gorgeous ways to step outside the box and wear something unique:

1) Embrace the rainbow! White can be tough color to wear, and if you’re not comfortable in it, don’t feel like you have to wear it. If an alternatively hued dress just feels more “you”, go for it! Check out these wedding dresses with color – still elegant and oh so bridal!

2) Think short! While the majority of wedding gowns are still floor length, every year we see more and more styles with higher hems. A shorter dress will be lightweight, comfortable and easy to dance in, and most of them are formal enough to still feel bridal. If you still want the long look for your ceremony, though, consider adding a removable skirt over your short dress, and get the best of both worlds!

Amy Kuschel sure knows how to make a pretty little white dress! Her Jackie Lady Stardust (left) and Mimosa (right) dresses are just stunning! Want to add some length? Jenny Yoo's London skirt is perfection!

3) Change up the fabric! Lace still reigns supreme in the bridal world (for good reason – it’s gorge) but we’re so excited by all of the new fabrics we’re seeing these days. Completely beaded? Why not! Flowers? Sure! A traditional silhouette in a bold fabric is the perfect way to be unique but still look like a bride!

Theia is the king of alternative fabrics! Pearls and beads and petals, oh my!

Whatever you choose, just be true to yourself! These days, there is truly a style to suit every bride, so do your research and find what is truly “you”! Happy shopping 🙂

Wedding Dress Shopping

How do you know when you’ve found “the one”?

Quick bride poll: Do you watch any of those wedding dress shopping shows? I always wonder if brides find them helpful or overwhelming. They’re TV shows, after all, so they tend to bring the drama; mean moms, tight timelines and petrifying prices, to name a few. Another thing? Most brides on these shows seem to have that clarifying, aha moment when they just know that a dress is “the one.” Well we’re here to tell you, not everyone has that moment, and that’s OK! We’ve heard brides question themselves all too often: “I’m not getting that feeling” or “I’m not sure if it’s the one because I didn’t cry.” These shows can make us think that there is a particular way we should act, look and feel when we’ve found the right dress, and that’s not always the case. Everyone’s dress shopping experience is different, and their reactions to it are also different. If you’re one of the many who isn’t getting that mysterious, special “feeling”, we’ve come up with some other tell tale signs that you’ve found the dress for you:

Forgive us while we use this blog as an excuse to share pics of some gorgeous brides who found "the one" at Flair! Christa is an elegant, happy and stunning bride in Jenny Yoo's Georgeanne gown!

Forgive us while we use this blog as an excuse to share pics of some gorgeous brides who found “the one” at Flair! First up, Christa is an elegant, happy and STUNNING bride in Jenny Yoo’s Georgeanne gown!

1) You can’t stop thinking about it – Find yourself day dreaming about a particular dress? Thinking about the low back when you should be sending your boss an email? Imagining the beading as you stroll through the grocery aisles? You may have found your dress!
2) You compare all others dresses to it – Most brides don’t stop shopping when they find a dress that they love. We get it; you want to be sure you’ve tried on enough styles! However, if you find yourself constantly measuring other dresses against one you’ve already tried and liked, it’s probably the one for you!
3) You’ve accessorized it in your head – Sometimes our heads are ahead of our hearts! Maybe without even realizing you’re doing it, you’ve already decided what belt to add to a particular dress, or what heirloom jewelry of your Grandmother’s would go well with it. In your mind, you’ve already purchased this dress and are taking the next step to accent it with some bling. There’s probably a reason for that…

Bottom line: If you get that aha feeling, great, but if you don’t 1) you’re not alone and 2) that doesn’t mean you haven’t found your dream dress! No two shopping experience are alike just like no two brides are alike, so just trust your gut, watch for these signs and most of all, enjoy some fun, happy and pressure free dress shopping!

Flair in Primetime!

Here at Flair, we are pretty big TV fans (hey, with this brutal winter, there’s not much else to do). We pore over all of Mindy Kaling/Lahiri’s fashions, get most of our “news” from “The Newsroom” and use Coach Taylor’s epic, pre-game speeches to get us pumped up for the day. Yes, we’re dorks, and yes, we’re OK with it. So, you can imagine our happiness when we saw some of OUR dresses featured on two TV weddings recently!

First up: “Glee”. We loved Brittany and Santana’s wedding for many reasons. Most importantly, we got to see a stunning same sex wedding in prime time, which is pretty fabulous. Next, they had a rustic chic wedding in a barn; a wedding style that we love and that we see alot of in our area. Lastly, they wore dresses by designers that WE carry! Santana rocked the popular Dakota gown by Nicole Miller while Brittany was ethereal in Jenny Yoo’s Vionnet gown. Not only that, but the bridesmaids wore dresses by Alfred Sung, another Flair designer! It was amazing to see the girls in dresses that we recognized by designers that we love AND we were thrilled that the show chose to highlight affordable, gorgeous dresses that ANY bride/bridesmaid can wear!

Next up: “New Girl”. Another show that we love! In true, quirky, “New Girl” fashion this wedding wasn’t without its hitches and hijinks, but one thing was certainly a success: the bride’s dress! Jess’ Dad’s fiancé Ashley (aka Dee from “It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia”) wore Jenny Yoo’s Camilla gown and looked chic and comfortable (despite this photo – sorry there weren’t better ones available)!

Two of our loves combined: wedding dresses and TV; we couldn’t be happier! Let us know if you see any TV wedding dresses that you love 🙂

Meet Mariell!

Mariell: Your New Jewelry Best Friend!

Don’t get me wrong, I love living with my husband (most of the time) but I often find myself missing the years I spent living with my girlfriends. Watching trashy TV together (for some strange reason I just can’t get my husband to sit down and watch The Real Housewives with me), having impromptu dance parties, cooking together; I miss it all! One of the hardest things about moving away from them though is that my closet was cut in half! No longer can I roam into their bedrooms and go “shopping” for something new to wear. It was the perfect situation; tons of new (to me) items that I knew would be stylish because well, my friends are fab. I bet it’s something all of us girls miss as we get older, so Flair tries to recreate that experience for you. When you shop at Flair, we want it to feel like you’re shopping in your friend’s closet; easy, quick, fun and full of items handpicked to please! Case in point: our new jewelry designer, Mariell! Flair spent a long time looking for a jewelry designer that has the three necessities: high quality, stylish products, at great prices, with a quick turnaround time. And boy, have we found it! Check out some of our favorite items below and then give us a call to stop by our “closet” and poke through all of our fabulous, new jewelry collection. You can also check out tons of Mariell products on our online site, Frills, from the comfort of your own closet! Happy shopping, Flair friends!

A Wonderful Watercolor Wedding

Watercolor Wedding Inspiration!

For the past few years, we’ve been providing the attire for Making Me Events’ annual styled photo shoot. We LOVE working with Phebe, she’s so creative, kind and knowledgeable; the perfect combo for an event planner! All of her shoots come out looking phenomenal, but we must admit, we’re a little partial to this year’s theme. Watercolors were the inspiration, and Phebe achieved it beautifully! The soft colors are perfectly on trend, AND we got to showcase our ombre Theia Petal gown. Wedding gowns with color are continuing to grow in popularity and we couldn’t be more excited. They are fun, flirty and fabulous! We’re so in love with this shoot and we know you will be too! Swoon over some of the stunning shots below and then check out the full shoot on Style Me Pretty!

Flair’s Fashion Week Recap!

Fashion Week Spring 2015 Trend Report!

Well, another Fashion Week has come to a close. This year, though, was a little different. There was all of the usual glitz, glamour and fun, but with a quiet note of sadness mixed in as the fashion world mourned the great Joan Rivers. Two things Joan loved most, though, were fashion and laughter, so I think she’d be fine with us getting back to those! So, we’re here to recap some of the major trends seen on this year’s runway! As you probably know, even though Fashion Week is in the fall, everything on the runway was made for Spring 2015. So we’re all getting a little preview of what’s to come; perfect for Spring/Summer 2015 brides! While most runway looks are not intended for weddings necessarily, there are subtle ways you can pop their trends into your big day!

1) 3D details: This year’s looks were literally popping off the runway! Designers were using multi-layered sequins, tons of paillettes, beading, crystals and even 3D florals to bring their looks to life. You can achieve this look with our petal bridal gown by Theia, which is covered in stunning fabric petals, giving you that on trend, 3D look!

This Vera Wang stunner embodies the 3D perfectly! As for the Theia gown, she does too, and you can get her at Flair!!

2) Metallics: Shades of Gold, Silver and Bronze were all over the runways this year! Metallics are great for a wedding; in general they are neutrals so you can pair them with whatever other colors you like! No need to stress over if the napkins, bridesmaids’ dresses, flowers and programs will coordinate! Get the look with Jenny Yoo’s Metallic Lace, seen here on her Hudson dress!

This Max Mara is the perfect shade of silver, just like in the matallic threading on our Hudson dress!

3) Pleats: OK, we have to pat ourselves on the back here. Pleats have been big in the wedding world for years, and the high fashion world is finally catching up! Pleats are super flattering and add the perfect, subtle detail to any dress! Steal this look for less with Dessy’s style 2880; pleats and rouching and flattering galore!

We love these Calvin Klein pleats almost as much as Dessy's ;)

4) Blush: OK, another pat on the back for us! Blush has been huge in the wedding world for the past couple of years, and it looks like it’s here to stay for atleast one more! Blush is soft, romantic and generally pretty flattering, making it the perfect wedding color! More good news: you can get this look with pretty much every designer at Flair! Check it out here on Siri’s Dahlia dress; stunning!

Thinking outside the box!

We get so excited when brides think outside of the box! For instance, we’ve had some choose a fascinator in lieu of a veil. Others go for patterned bridesmaids’ dresses (we’ve got ‘em!) instead of the usual solid. Another favorite is when brides wear a chunky, colored necklace with their gowns. These little changes go a long way towards making the look and style of the wedding truly yours, and we love that! For that reason, we take the buying of Flair’s merchandise very seriously. We want every girl who walks in the door to find something that she loves, no matter her desired style or budget. So today, we’re highlighting some of our designer’s bridal gowns that step outside of the box, for you brides looking to wear a little something unique on your big day! Enjoy and give us a call when you’re ready to do a little coloring outside of the lines 🙂
