Don’t get me wrong, I love living with my husband (most of the time) but I often find myself missing the years I spent living with my girlfriends. Watching trashy TV together (for some strange reason I just can’t get my husband to sit down and watch The Real Housewives with me), having impromptu dance parties, cooking together; I miss it all! One of the hardest things about moving away from them though is that my closet was cut in half! No longer can I roam into their bedrooms and go “shopping” for something new to wear. Happy wedding year, 2014 brides!

It’s 11:59 PM on 12/31/13. Ryan Seacrest is counting down….10, 9, 8….confetti is flying…..7, 6, 5….the champagne is flowing….4, 3, 2, 1….HAPPY NEW YEAR!!! (enter passionate smooch here)

Bride: “OMG I’m getting married THIS YEAR!!!” (said in an excited squeal)

It’s 12:03 AM on 1/1/14 and already the mood has changed. Miley Cyrus is twerking next to an awkward Ryan Seacrest and Jenny McCarthy and Donnie Wahlberg are full on making out in front of children. What is the world coming to?

We get it. Up until now, the wedding has felt like this really far away event, and then the calendar flips over and in an instant you are thrown into crunch time. Going Beyond the Registry: Fabulous gift ideas for the bride in your life

With another holiday season just past, I got to thinking about the gift giving evolution. You start out as a cute (albeit bratty) kid who is all about receiving gifts….lots and lots of them. Then, as the years pass, you start to receive fewer gifts, but you don’t really mind. You even start to feel a little guilty. You actually hear yourself saying: “You didn’t have to do that!” or “You did too much!” “Too much? There’s no such thing!” your younger self would say. Then a few more years pass, and suddenly you get more joy out of giving than receiving. My parents always said that they preferred gift giving, and in my younger days I never understood it. “Chumps”, I thought. They were right though. As it turns out, parents are actually right about a lot of stuff, it’s weird. Anyways, these days seeing the looks on my friends’ and family’s faces is the best gift I could ever ask for. Who knew?!

Even though the holidays are over, I’m excited to keep the gift giving spirit alive! My new focus: brides! I have some showers and weddings in the coming months that I can’t wait to shop for. While registries take off a little bit of the pressure, I always like to add in a little something personal as well. Here are a few of my favorites:
1) Amore ring dish: Because every bride takes off her rings once and awhile, so she might as well have a fabulous place to keep them.

2) Lanvin bridal notebook: Because every bride needs a designer notebook to take to her vendor meetings, right?

3) Champagne coupes (my new obsession): Because every bride deserves to toast in style. There are tons of brands to choose from, but I love these from Kate Spade!

A Day of Love….oh and sweets!

Happy Valentine’s Day! Instead of doing a typical “Top Valentine’s Day Dates” ideas we are going to help all those sig others who may be running a little late in the gift department……..hint hint to our sig others, can you tell we have a sweet tooth:)

1. Georgetown Cupcakes

Cupcakes are one of the best ways to give your loved one something sweet on this special day! Georgetown Cupcakes is located on Newbury Street and are accepting pre-orders up until Wednesday evening. You can also stop on in and pick out your favorites!

2. Winston Flowers

Winston Flowers has some of the most beautiful arrangements I have seen. I have fallen in love with their flowers! All of their locations have extended hours on Valentine’s Day: 8 am – 6 pm.

3. Beacon Hill Chocolates

Beacon Hill is a small little shop on Charles Street but they have traveled the world to get the best chocolates. They were named the Best of Boston for 2009, 2010, and 2012. They offer a very wide variety to satisfy any sweet tooth!

Bridesmaids, this blog is for especially for you! Brides, we’re going to try and say this nicely: please go away. We love you but we’ve got some surprises to plan for you so TTFN!

OK, now that we’ve gotten rid of our lovely brides, we can get to planning their showers and bachelorette parties! Have you started the process yet? It can be difficult to do, especially when the bridesmaids are all over the country. We’ve all been on one of those never ending email chains where nothing really gets accomplished.

So annoying! Have no fear, LastBash is here! It’s a new social networking type site where you can all get together and bounce around party ideas. Once you choose your location, LastBash also can provide recommendations on local hotels, restaurants and more. Plus, once you get the guest list finalized everyone can head to LastBash to RSVP and get more info on the event. This is seriously one of those ideas we wish we had thought of, it’s genius! Check them out and kiss your party planning woes good bye! Also, be sure to clue your bride in about the site after the fact (we don’t want her peeking at any potential surprises!), so she can use it to plan an epic bash for you one day!

Things we LOVE: Say my name, say my name…

OK, I’ve been reading some of the wedding blogs recently and they say to not go overboard on the personalized details at your wedding. All I can say is 1) oops, too late and 2) why not?? I get that your guests probably don’t need a reminder as to whose wedding they are attending (if they do they probably should have been cut from the list to begin with) but I personally am a sucker for personalization.

Why not send subtle reminders to your guests as to who the queen and king are that day? Besides that, I am really proud of the work I’ve put into all the details of my wedding and I literally want my name all over the place. Call me vain if you like, but it’s my day (oh, and his too) and I’ll personalize if I want to! Below are some of my fav personalized goodies. I guess if you want to be a blog follower you can choose just one, but I say, if your budget allows, go for all of them!

1) At just $17.99 for 100, these cocktail napkins are a no brainer. Plus, it can’t hurt for people to be thinking about you along with their alcohol, especially when they may have their checkbooks on them…

2) This hanger is absolutely adorable. My Flair girls got it for me and I am ob-sessed! It will obviously keep my gown looking good on the day of the wedding, but in the meantime it has a place of honor hanging on the drawer of my bedside table. I know all of my other hangers are jealous…

4) My fiancé is half Chinese and I could not resist getting these fortune cookies for our favors (of course I checked with him first to make sure they weren’t too cheesy but luckily he gave his seal of approval!).
