Let’s face it, Thanksgiving is every bride’s best (and worst) frenemy. Every year “she” brings families together and reminds us all to appreciate what we’ve been given. Good friend! However, she also brings us gravy, pumpkin pie and buttered rolls. What a mean-ie! Doesn’t she know that there are tons of brides and bridesmaids out there trying to stay fit?! I recommend just giving into her girls; you’d have to be part robot to resist Thanksgiving’s goodies. We all deserve cheat days and this is the mother of all cheat days!
Once you awake from your wine/tryptophan induced nap (the BEST kind of nap in my opinion), Thanksgiving also has another “treat” in store; Black Friday sales! Who doesn’t love waking up at the crack of dawn to throw elbows at your fellow shoppers, only to find that the TV you were hoping for is already sold out (and yes, I am speaking from experience)? In theory, Black Friday is a great idea, but here at Flair we wanted to refine it a little.
We’re doing our annual “Black Saturday+Sunday” sale (giving you an extra day to recover from your food coma) and we promise that nothing is going to sell out. Plus, we’re always by appointment, so you can put those elbows away. Basically, it’s the same great dresses we always have, just discounted. We’re thankful for all of you, and we wanted to show you our appreciation by helping you save some money. Simple as that! Save an extra 5% on all Bridesmaid orders placed by November 11th and 10% off all Wedding Dresses + Accessories
Appointments are flying out the door so give us a call ASAP, and we promise you the easiest after Thanksgiving shopping experience you’ve ever had!!

Here at Flair, we pride ourselves on providing our brides and bridesmaids with the “Newbury Street experience” but without the “Newbury Street price tag.” We firmly believe that every bride and bridesmaid deserves a high quality, gorgeous garment and stellar service, no matter what their budget is!
So, when it comes to the dresses we carry in the store, we spend hours researching designers who have that same philosophy. Then, once we zero in on a Flair approved designer we spend several more hours going over their dresses and choosing just the right ones for our brides. It’s fun work, but definitely a long process. So, you can imagine why we are SO excited to welcome a new designer to our family: Theia bridal!
We love Theia for so many reasons but here are just a few:
1) Quick lead time – We can get most of Theia’s bridal gowns here in a matter of weeks, not months, which is UNHEARD of in the bridal world! So, planning a wedding quickly? No problem! You can get a gorgeous Theia gown without a rush fee!
2) MAJOR style variety – We had a hard time choosing samples for the store, there were just SO many dresses that we felt would be perfect for Flair. In the end, we chose some lace, some chiffon, some strapless and some strapped; truly something for everyone! Plus in the coming weeks we’re getting a gown in their “petal” fabric. We’d never seen anything like it, and are SO excited to show all of you as soon as it arrives!
3) Crazy prices – We had to triple check their prices, they just seemed too good to be true! None of the styles we picked up are over $2000, and many are under $1000. YES, you read that correctly, and trust us, the styles look like they are worth WAY more. With Theia you’re really going to get the most out of your budget, which we LOVE!
Soooooo gorgeous!!
Most of our samples came in today (and if you’re wondering, yes, we tried them all on!) so, do us a favor and make an appointment to come in and see them (as well as our other gorgeous gowns) because we are literally dying to try them on you.

Happy Fall, we look forward to seeing all of you soon!!

As Summer approaches, I’ve decided to get back on the mani pedi bandwagon. I hate to admit it, but since I got married last summer I’ve kinda let myself go a little. In the months leading up to the wedding I was getting a mani pedi every two weeks, had a stock pile of self-tanner and was in the best shape of my life (yoga twice a day, no big deal). After the wedding though, it was nice to let those things go for awhile. Winter came and the Uggs came back out, my skin went back to pasty white, my nails became a nightmare and now I’m lucky if I do Yoga 4 times a week. Pretty sure this is not what my husband signed up for. JK, he loves me unconditionally…but I’m pretty sure he would burn my Uggs if he thought he could get away with it.
What brought me back to my old primping ways? On Marathon Monday I got a sunburn (oh hey summer, you kinda snuck up on me there) that is now turning into a pretty killer tan. The sight of some color on my usually pale skin brought back fond memories of “pre-wedding Lindsay”. So, I decided to take that one step further, and I picked up the phone and called Mini Luxe on Newbury Street. I have 4 words for you: gel manicures for life! They are so worth the extra money! No chippage for 2 weeks? I’m sold! Plus, it’s SO cute in there! I was chatting with my lovely manicurist and of course Flair came up. She told me that they work with bridal parties all the time. You and your lovely ladies can head there all together and get mani pedis in an uber relaxing environment, with tons of polish colors to match whatever color palette you’re working with. Speaking of, are you making your bridesmaids’ nails match each other/ match the color scheme of the wedding? I did, and occasionally I feel badly and think that maybe that was a little bridezilla-ish…but then I remember how cute they looked with their matching hot pink nails and I get over it!

Here at Flair, we are constantly learning about new things; wedding related and otherwise. Siri for the iPhone, HeyTell, and guest trunk shows, for example. What’s a guest trunk show you ask? It’s when a designer who we do not normally carry hosts a trunk show (i.e. they loan us tons of gowns) in our store. I know, news to us too! We are soso excited to announce one such trunk show featuring Junko Yoshioka!
We were introduced to Junko when we went to bridal market in NYC a few weeks ago. We fell in love with their gowns and we know you will too! They are whimsical yet formal at the same time and their wide variety of silhouettes will flatter all figures. The trunk show will be February 4th and 5th, which I know feels light years away, but we think it’s going to be a HUGE hit so book your appointments early!
Give us a call to book your appointment for the Junko Yoshioka Trunk Show February 4th-5th!!

Most people dream of what it would be like to meet their heroes, wondering what they will say and how they will act in that very moment. I was fortunate enough to have ample time to think of what I would say, if I was fortunate enough to have the chance. I spent weeks with the ladies of Flair mulling over what I would write in my essay for the contest to meet design legend Betsey Johnson.
I wrote from the heart, and made sure that my passion for fashion was evident in every word. Luckily, my essay was picked; otherwise I definitely would not be blogging about it, how depressing. Betsey Johnson came to Boston in support of the fight against breast cancer, as she is a survivor herself. She teamed up with South End Health Center to raise money for patients, and held a fabulous fashion show of her latest collection at Cyclorama, also in the South End of Boston. However, a few hours before the show Betsey made a stop at the Museum of Fine Arts, to speak with a variety of creative people, students and professionals alike, in a small setting. As my reward for winning the essay contest, I was able to attend this meeting during the day and was on the guest list for the show at night.
I did not know what to expect when meeting Betsey Johnson, and to say she was one of the sweetest of people to encounter would be an understatement. She was extraordinarily warm to us in person, and was willing to answer any question we could think of. She walked out onto stage in the MFA auditorium with two giant suitcases of her own personal collection of vintage clothing, rooting all the way back to her earliest designs from the 1960’s. Her most candid moment was definitely when she proceeded to tear open the suitcases and scatter the pieces all over the floor. In this moment I gasped and wanted to jump on the stage and pick them all back up! She on the other hand was not bothered a bit. I sat back in my seat amazed as she described what it was like to spend time with people like Andy Warhol and Twiggy. At the end of the program, she said hello and signed my essay “xoxo Betsey”, this was one of those “it” moments in my life thus far.
The fashion show was quite the spectacle and was wonderfully pink, just like Betsey. Her new collection featured mostly dresses in wild animal prints with pops of bright color, which was exhilarating to watch parade the runway. It all really came together for me when Betsey did her well noted cartwheel at the end of the catwalk when the show came to a close. I could not believe that I was actually there. Me? Little intern Joy? It seemed too great to be true! Now that all of the excitement is over, I can look back and value what an amazing experience it was to meet such an influential designer. Although you will never catch me in a pink tutu with leopard print leggings, I will now forever be an avid fan of Betsey Johnson!
