Theia Bridal

Now bridesmaids can get in on the Theia fun!

Not going to lie; our job is super fun! Playing dress up with pretty dresses on even prettier Boston brides and bridesmaids? Yeah, it’s hard to even call that “work”. One hard part of our job, though, is finding new designers to integrate into our collection. Browsing through all of their gorgeous gowns is easy, but when it comes time to actually choose someone to add to our Flair family, that’s a little trickier. We have very high standards, as we only want to bring our Flair girls the very best. All of our designers have to have the perfect mix of affordable pricing, reasonable lead times, and stunning styles, to name just a few. We got lucky recently, though, when a designer we already know and love decided to add a brand new collection. We are thrilled to announce that Theia is expanding beyond their beautiful bridal gowns and is now offering equally beautiful bridesmaids’ dresses! They’ll be in the store soon, but in the meantime here’s a little preview of what you can expect:

Theia's bridesmaids' dresses are gorge from front to back - as seen on the "Allison" dress!

There are tons of gorge, non-strapless options, like Hannah (left) and Ashley (right)!

We can’t wait to see these beauties on our girls! Stay tuned to find out when they will be in stores 🙂

The latest and greatest tops for the 2016 wedding season!

We’re still on fashion cloud nine after our recent trip to New York Bridal Market. Seeing the latest wedding styles hit the runways is so exciting! The only downside? So, in the meantime, we’re going to get our 2016 style fix by taking over the blog and drooling over photos with all of you 🙂 Today’s topic: tops! It’s no longer just strapless and v-neck; there are tons of amazing new necklines to choose from! Check out some of the fresh top trends that we caught below and then keep your eye on the AMAZING Long’s Jewelers blog. New York Bridal Market

A Trend Report

Let’s face it, all of us girls love shopping. Some of us prefer clothes shopping, while others get a thrill out of home decor. Hey, I’m such a shopping addict that I even enjoy the grocery store! Wherever you shop, I think we can all agree that it’s just nice to treat yourself and discover new things. That’s one of the many reasons that we love New York Bridal Market; we get to shop all of the new bridal collections and bring the gorgeous goodies back to our equally gorgeous Boston brides! Not to mention that we’ll take any excuse to stroll around Manhattan doing our best Carrie Bradshaw walk/run in heels. And getting face time with our kind, talented designers? Always amazing! Having just returned from this year’s Bridal Market, we wanted to pass along a few of the hot, new trends that we spotted. We can’t wait to see them on all of you as the 2016 dresses arrive later this winter!

1) Toppers – Every girl who has been to a bridal shop knows how much a belt/sash can change the look of a gown. It’s amazing how much one accessory can really elevate the look! While belts are here to stay (yay!), there’s a new accessory on the block that is changing the bridal/bridesmaids world – toppers! Slipping one of these tops of over your dress is an easy way to create a unique, modern look and add some coverage at the same time.

2) Crepe – Sure, lace will always be the quintessential bridal fabric, but there’s a new kid in town that’s getting a ton of buzz – crepe. This lightweight material has the structure of a silk with the ease and feel of a comfortable chiffon; a match made in heaven! Tara Keely showed off some chic, clean crepe styles in her new collection; take a peek below!

3) Mixed Materials – Us girls, we always want the best of both worlds. So, when it comes time to purchase our bridal gown, it can be hard to choose. How is one supposed to decide between the timelessness of lace and the comfort of chiffon? Luckily, the new collections have showed us that we don’t have to choose – we really can have it all! Designer Hayley Paige definitely believes in that mentality. Many of her gowns feature multiple fabrics, and the result is truly modern, unique and stunning!

4) Nude – We’re not talking about showing a ton of skin here, but rather changing up the color of your gown. Darker tones were all the rage on the bridal market runways, and for good reason. White can be a tricky color to wear, so switching to a nude or any other darker shade is a good idea for the many of us that can’t quite pull it off.

Technology and Weddings

Taking your big day into the future!

It’s a major understatement to say that technology is a big part of our lives. From bracelets that track our heart rate to phones that…well…do just about anything, it’s hard to remember a time before these electronic conveniences. When it comes to weddings, though, technology is still finding its proper place. Some weddings go completely unplugged, asking their guests to stow their cameras and phones. Others go all out and incorporate technology in many aspects of their big day. Most people, though, fall somewhere in the middle and want to embrace technology, but not let it overtake their wedding. If you’re one of those people, here are some fun, unique ways to pop some technology into your big day:

Photography – Do your research and you may just find a photographer in your area that incorporates drones into their routine. Yes, drones. They’re getting more and more commonplace, and many photographers find them to be the perfect second shooter! They can get angles and images that the average photographer can’t, and will ensure that you get some stunning, unique shots!

Cake – Credit Disney Weddings for this amazing, futuristic idea: images/videos projected onto your cake! Forget the frosting flowers of the past, and imagine your confection decorated with a home video of you and your sweetie. Cue the oohs and ahhs from your guests! Photos, videos, animations…the possibilities are endless!

Video – While a professional videographer can never be replaced, you can use technology to get some amazing, candid video of your big day. How about a GoPro camera hidden in your bouquet? Wouldn’t it be amazing to have a video showing your perspective coming down the aisle?! Or consider assigning a member of your bridal party to Periscope duty and help those that can’t be with you to see your wedding in real time.

Dress – Of course we have to address the mix of technology and gowns! One of our fabulous bridal designers, Theia, has paved the way to the future with their custom gown for Carrie Underwood that featured a digital light show! While it may be awhile before a bride is ready to go that far, it’s amazing to think about how far fashion has come! If you want to pop some technology into your look in a more subtle way, how about a 3D printed headpiece? Chic, modern and sure to wow!

Unique Wedding Gowns

Easy, elegant ways to step outside of the box!

We’ve been back from Spring bridal market for almost a week now but we’re still in total swoon mode over all of the stunning styles that we saw there! We pinch ourselves every time market rolls around; we can’t believe it’s our job to watch fashion shows and buy pretty, new dresses for the showroom. It’s a tough job but someone’s got to do it 🙂 One thing we always notice at market is how bridal gowns are constantly evolving. There are so many options out there; wedding gowns can no longer be defined as just “a white dress.” For brides looking to break the mold, these days there are tons of gorgeous ways to step outside the box and wear something unique:

1) Embrace the rainbow! White can be tough color to wear, and if you’re not comfortable in it, don’t feel like you have to wear it. If an alternatively hued dress just feels more “you”, go for it! Check out these wedding dresses with color – still elegant and oh so bridal!

2) Think short! While the majority of wedding gowns are still floor length, every year we see more and more styles with higher hems. A shorter dress will be lightweight, comfortable and easy to dance in, and most of them are formal enough to still feel bridal. If you still want the long look for your ceremony, though, consider adding a removable skirt over your short dress, and get the best of both worlds!

Amy Kuschel sure knows how to make a pretty little white dress! Her Jackie Lady Stardust (left) and Mimosa (right) dresses are just stunning! Want to add some length? Jenny Yoo's London skirt is perfection!

3) Change up the fabric! Lace still reigns supreme in the bridal world (for good reason – it’s gorge) but we’re so excited by all of the new fabrics we’re seeing these days. Completely beaded? Why not! Flowers? Sure! A traditional silhouette in a bold fabric is the perfect way to be unique but still look like a bride!

Theia is the king of alternative fabrics! Pearls and beads and petals, oh my!

Whatever you choose, just be true to yourself! These days, there is truly a style to suit every bride, so do your research and find what is truly “you”! Happy shopping 🙂

A Wonderful Watercolor Wedding

Watercolor Wedding Inspiration!

For the past few years, we’ve been providing the attire for Making Me Events’ annual styled photo shoot. We LOVE working with Phebe, she’s so creative, kind and knowledgeable; the perfect combo for an event planner! All of her shoots come out looking phenomenal, but we must admit, we’re a little partial to this year’s theme. Watercolors were the inspiration, and Phebe achieved it beautifully! The soft colors are perfectly on trend, AND we got to showcase our ombre Theia Petal gown. Wedding gowns with color are continuing to grow in popularity and we couldn’t be more excited. They are fun, flirty and fabulous! We’re so in love with this shoot and we know you will be too! Swoon over some of the stunning shots below and then check out the full shoot on Style Me Pretty!

Wine Country Wedding Wonder

Guys, we are OBSESSED with Southern New England Weddings. It is seriously one of the most beautifully put together wedding publications we’ve ever seen. Everyone at SNEW has a passion for weddings, and they work hard to produce a magazine that any and every New England bride can turn to for inspiration. There’s nothing we hate more than flipping through a magazine only to find that every idea is out of our fiscal reach. Another bummer? When we see an ad for a cake (cue drool) and then learn that the baker is located across the country. So, Southern New England Weddings is perfect for us! They take the time to feature products and ideas for all budgets, and they shout out all of the best local vendors. Speaking of which, this seems like a good time to segue into a sneak peek of the most recent shoot Flair did with SNEW. (See what I did there…best local vendors…Flair…duh). So sit back, relax, and take a nice, long sip of this delicious wine country themed shoot. Oh, and be sure to grab the newest issue of Southern New England Weddings to see the full spread and get the scoop on all of the fab wedding pros who also collaborated on this shoot! Cheers!

Thinking outside the box!

We get so excited when brides think outside of the box! For instance, we’ve had some choose a fascinator in lieu of a veil. Others go for patterned bridesmaids’ dresses (we’ve got ‘em!) instead of the usual solid. Another favorite is when brides wear a chunky, colored necklace with their gowns. These little changes go a long way towards making the look and style of the wedding truly yours, and we love that! For that reason, we take the buying of Flair’s merchandise very seriously. We want every girl who walks in the door to find something that she loves, no matter her desired style or budget. So today, we’re highlighting some of our designer’s bridal gowns that step outside of the box, for you brides looking to wear a little something unique on your big day! Enjoy and give us a call when you’re ready to do a little coloring outside of the lines 🙂

Grammy Red Carpet Fashion!

As we settle into our “new digs” we wanted to take the time to look at the 2013 Grammy Red Carpet from this past weekend. It is our favorite time of year…..award season and that means one thing: dresses! The red carpet is one of the most exciting times of the night! We wanted to give our humble opinions to which dresses we thought were just fabulous.

These are our top 5! Enjoy!
