Destination Weddings: Closer than you think!

Not to overstate things, but New England is literally the best place to live in the entire world. Bar none. End of story. OK, we may be just a little biased and yes, it’s true, we have to put up with some killer winters, but our stunning Springs, Summers and Falls make it all worthwhile! Plus, with all of our fabulous little states so close together, you can take an amazing vacation without going more than a couple hours from home. Also, we have the Red Sox, Bruins, Patriots and Celtics. Boom. Enough said. Going back to vacations though, on the same note, New England brides can throw a stunning destination wedding without ever having to board a plane! There are tons of amazing spots around New England that will be new to you and your guests, but still close to home. The smart, talented staff at Southern New England Weddings Magazine realized what a destination wedding gem New England really is, and they decided to dedicate their new issue to just that! Check out this stunning Nantucket themed shoot to see how easy it is to create a fresh, destination wedding look in our own backyard. We love the soft, romantic color palette of this shoot, and that cake with mussel shells is kinda fantastic!

Inspiration Boards: Your Key to Wedding Planning Sanity!

This just in: Planning a wedding is alot of work. News at 11.

We know that that’s not really a newsflash. Anyone who is planning a wedding or knows someone planning a wedding understands that it’s hard. There are tons of decisions to make and cash to spend, and pressure to boot. This is a huge day and of course you want everything to be perfect! One of the most frustrating parts is that you’re making all of these decisions individually but you need them to all correspond in the end. One month you’re picking flowers and the next month dresses, followed by the cake. It’s all so spread out that it’s hard to know if it will all come together nicely on the big day. There’s a fair bit of faith involved; faith that your vendors can execute your vision (don’t worry, they can!) and faith in yourself that your vision is even worth all this stress! One way you can start to pull all of the pieces together is with an inspiration board. Pair photos of your favorite flowers with your dresses and your linens next to your cake, to make sure you like how it all looks together. It’s not exact but it’s as close as we can get! Mis-Matched Bridesmaids Dresses!

While we consider ourselves to be pretty fearless most of the time, lately alot of our brides have been saying something to us that truly makes us shudder: “I really like the look of Molly Sims’ bridal party.” <Cue classic horror movie music> Gasp!

If you haven’t seen her bridal party, do a quick Google search. Find it? OK good. It really is gorgeous, and we love to see someone doing something a little different BUT we’ve had a hard time recreating that look for our brides…until now!

Jenny Yoo came out with her first “social collection” this season, which includes pretty prints, luxurious laces and preppy polka dots. They pair perfectly with our already fabulous collection of solid dresses, to help you achieve that effortless mix and match look that so many brides are going for these days. Our Kim Kardashian Wedding Dress Prediction!

Although we do not have any so-called “royals” here in the good old U.S.A the closest thing we have is the Royal Family of Reality TV…..

THE KARDASHIAN’S!

Kim Kardashian & Kris Humphrey’s will be getting hitched this Saturday……so Lindsay and I put our head together and debated for hours upon hours over the past few weeks and here is what we have come up with!

We know the designer is Vera Wang, a close family friend and we think she will stick with the Mermaid silhouette. It’s gotten her this far why would she veer off course now! So, we think it is going to be a mix between these two gowns below….and don’t be surprised if you see her in something other than WHITE! (Although we think that would be such a crime)

We are thinking this will be the shape of the dress and possibly the color!

With a train that will W-O-W and a sleek satin bodice!

As for the gaggle of bridesmaids we had a tougher time….we thought she would want to something a little different from Khloe’s wedding, so here is our best guess!

Soft, romantic and flowy!! However we are voting for a grey color!

I guess we will all have to wait and see. But in the meantime let us know what you think Kim and her “dolls” aka bridesmaids will be wearing on the Big Day!!

Things we love: Different colored bridesmaids’ dresses!

We love it when a bride thinks outside of the box. After all, your wedding should be as unique as you are! One of the easiest, and prettiest, ways to separate yourself from the pack is by having your bridesmaids’ wear slightly different colors. I just placed an order today for three bridesmaids and each is wearing a slightly different colored green. All of the greens go well together and stay along the bride’s color theme, but each girl was able to choose the green that looks best on her.

A big trend these days is letting the bridesmaids have some choice in terms of their dress style; the reason being that with all those different body types it is hard to find one dress that looks great on everyone. It’s the same thinking with colors; not all colors look great with all skin tones/hair colors. You may find an adorable dress but if you put it in a color that your maid just cannot pull off then she will never even think about re-wearing it. We do have one warning though for those considering mixed colors: it can be more work for the bride to organize. You’ll need to keep an eye on who has chosen what color and decide if you’re OK with some overlap. The result of all of that work, though, is a gorgeous and unique bunch of maids, hopefully in dresses/colors that they can re-wear in the future! Who doesn’t love that?

It’s all about COLOR!!!

I think it was the boy scouts who said it best……

“Be prepared!”

Such great advice, especially when shopping for all your fab and beautiful bridesmaids! You have about a million decisions to make before your BIG day and choosing the color of your bridesmaids dresses is really one of the biggest and most important.

Although I hate to refer to your lovely ladies as decoration, the truth is they are in a sense. They will be the array of color surrounding you, and the color you choose is the catalyst for many other decisions (flowers, groomsmen’s attire, centerpiece colors) and will essentially set the tone for the wedding! Ouch, now that sounds like a HUGE decision.

Don’t fret we are here to help you!

Make sure you come into Flair with ideas….whether that be magazine clippings, your favorite scarf, or paint chips. Anything helps!

So, don’t forget that boy scout motto “be prepared”!
